In late December, Clyde called me up and told me he was talking to R.Ring about a music video for their new album. I was holding onto some unused footage that happened to fit perfectly to their song, "Cutter." The animation was done similar in style to Torrey Pines, meaning paper puppets shot on a multi-plane rig. In a week, I had animated a few new scenes and Clyde edited it all together. It all happened really fast and to our surprise, Kelley and Mike loved it! In fact, so much that we ended up using two scenes from the video for the cover art.
We are also working on a beautiful live action/animated video for Aye Nako. This video is a group effort divided between several Seattle area animators. The video contains a bounty of hand drawn hallucinations as the band members eat magic mushrooms at Coney Island. The live action was beautifully shot in New York, the animated psychedelic effects and drawings are bright and colorful.
